Naturopathic Medicine

Where Natural Medicine Meets Modern Science

Dr. Aponte practices Naturopathic Medicine, a distinct health care profession, emphasizing prevention, treatment, and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods that encourage an individual’s inherent self-healing process. The naturopathic approach integrates traditional natural therapies with current advancements in medical science. Naturopathic doctors seek to identify the root causes of illness and support health in the least invasive and safest way possible.

Principles of Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic therapies are specifically designed to support the body’s inherent self-healing process. When the body self-heals, the results are lasting.

The Healing Power of Nature

Naturopathic doctors seek to identify and remove the underlying causes of illness rather than to merely eliminate or suppress symptoms.

Identify and Treat the Cause

The naturopathic model looks at how all of the body systems interact and how disease affects you as a whole person. Naturopathic Doctors take into account not only your physical symptoms, but other aspects of your well-being such as your emotions, stress level, lifestyle, family history,  environmental stresses and nutritional status.

TReat the Whole Person

Prevention is the best Medicine

Prevention of disease is the emphasis. A naturopathic doctor will assess your risk factors and individual susceptibility. We focus on implementing health-promoting practices early—before disease develops—because preventing illness is always easier than reversing complex conditions.

Naturopathic doctors educate you about your health and help you understand your body and its unique needs. We empower you with the knowledge and tools to take an active role in your healing, and become a good steward of your own health.

Doctor As Teacher

Do No Harm

Naturopathic doctors start with the gentlest, safest approaches—like nutrition, lifestyle changes, and herbal medicine—to support your body's natural healing while minimizing side effects. More invasive options like medications and surgery are only considered when necessary.

Naturopathic Training & Education

A Naturopathic Doctor (ND) is a licensed healthcare professional who completes four years of graduate-level training at a naturopathic medical school fully accredited by the US Department of Education. NDs receive comprehensive training in both conventional medicine and natural therapies, including coursework in clinical sciences, diagnostics, and naturopathic therapeutics, combined with hands-on clinical experience. After graduation, NDs must pass rigorous national licensing exams and are regulated by state licensing boards. NDs complete ongoing continuing education to maintain their license and stay up-to-date with the latest in medical knowledge.
